Tale 3 - Combe Martin Carnival (Wednesday 9th August, 2000) |
|
Combe Martin Millennium Carnival Riders: Gerald Walters Darren Smallridge Norman Sanders John Webber Trevor Laramy Jimmy Norman Graham Rice Walkers: Philip Sanders Sarah Rumsan Susan Muir Richard Muir Marie Johns Uncle Tom took pride of place in this year's Millennium Carnival. Even a heavy mist could not dampen the team's sprit on this special occasion. The London Inn provided the first 'Watering Hole' where we all received a commemorative medal from the Carnival Committee in recognition of previous years support. Because the parade was late starting arrangements had to be made for 'Additional Fuel' at the Castle Hotel. The street was lined with watchers and Uncle Tom bought spontaneous applause from all sections. The journey ended with further drinks and sandwiches at the Poplars when passed Carnivals were relived, before the horse returned to the farm via the Castle Hotel. |
